SUV Struck By Train

(LEXINGTON, Neb.) — On September 5, 2025 at approximately 8:23 a.m. Dawson County 911 Center received a call that a motor vehicle had been struck by a train at the intersection of Road 427 and Highway 30. Deputies responded and located a white Buick Enclave in the south ditch north of the railroad tracks with serious damage.

Located in the vehicle was driver, 73 year old Scott Maline of Kearney and passenger 71 year old Kathy Maline of Kearney both deceased. All airbags were deployed and restraints were in use.
It was determined the vehicle was northbound on Road 427, entered the uncontrolled railroad crossing and was struck by an empty westbound train.

The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Nebraska State Patrol, Lexington Fire and Rescue, Priority Medical, Union Pacific Railroad, and Randy and Brian’s Towing.
