Warrant Yields Secondary Arrest

(SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb.) — On September 16, 2025, Officer Weber with the Scottsbluff Police Department observed Amy Cross in the passenger seat of a red Mercury Cougar heading S. Bound on 9th Ave. Familiar with Cross from past encounters, he was aware of active arrest warrants. Officers were advised over radio that warrants were still active. Officers followed the vehicle to the 500 block of E. 11th Street where they contacted Cross. Officers removed a purse she had by her feet and a smaller one next to it. The smaller bag had a meth bong, fixed blade and a digital scale with white residue.

Officers then searched Annette Blanco, the driver and recovered a sandwich baggie containing white crystalized substance in her right pants pocket as well as a wad of cash. Officers went on to find a torn grocery bag with a digital scale covered in white residue on the driver’s floor. When interviewed, Blanco advised she had bought 7 grams from Cross the night prior and intended on selling the drugs. She admitted to having made two transactions already a “t-shirt and a $20”. The remaining amount was 5.6 grams before being tested for meth, which was later verifed upon testing. Blanco was then arrested.

On October 3, Blanco pleaded not guilty to possession with intent to distribute. During comments on bond, her attorney asked for a low bond of $5,000/10%. District Attorney Dave Eubanks had no problem with the recommendation stating, he knew the defendant and was aware of her disabilities and mental health issues. Ultimately, Judge Miller ordered a $7,000/10% bond and she must check in with the Sheriff’s Office every Monday and Friday morning at 8:30 a.m.

Blanco has waived her right to a preliminary hearing and has a pre-trial hearing on January 21, 2026.
