Hillsdale Hay Fire Status

(HILLSDALE, Wyo.) — Early Thursday morning, October 17, 2025, the Laramie County Fire District recieved a call for a hay bale fire. The crews worked throughout the day and were able to estinguish most of it. Smoke can still be seen as the remaining pile is still smoldering.

At around 9 a.m., they shared this message with the Burns, Wyoming community:

“There will be heavy fire truck traffic in town this morning as we are fighting a large hay fire in Hillsdale. Numerous agencies will be using our Burns station for water supply.”

Thursday night another post gave us the update we were hoping for.

“HAY FIRE UPDATE. The fire has been extinguished for the most part. There is going to be smoke north of Hillsdale for the next few days as the remaining pile of hay continues to smolder. Thank you to all of our mutual-aid districts who showed up to help us.“

Laramie County Fire Authority, Laramie County Fire District #1, Laramie County Fire District #3, Laramie County Fire Dist. #4, Carpenter, Wy, Laramie County Fire District #5, Pine Bluffs, Wyoming and Laramie County Sheriff’s Office also came to aid in the fight.

Laramie County Fire District #6 posted this in recognition of the teamwork exhibited throught the day. “Thank you to our neighboring districts for showing up and assisting us last night with a garage fire in Burns. With a quick response we were able to contain the fire to the garage without it spreading to other structures and vehicles nearby.“
