(SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb.) — On September 15, 2025, Officer Thomas was dispatched to Twin City Auto in reference to a theft. It was determined that the suspect had arrived on Friday, September 12 at approximately 8:22 a.m. The suspect had unlocked his vehicle using a spare key and drove the silver 2011 Nissan Sentra off the property without paying for the services completed.
The officer then contacted Kasey Vanderveen at his residence in Gering, where he admitted he had driven the vehicle off the Twin City Auto property without paying for the work done to the vehicle. The value of the work totaled $5,578.04. He was then arrested and transported to jail.
On October 17, the defendant appeared in person before Judge Miller where he pleaded not guilty to theft of services $1,000-$5,000. If convicted he could face 0-20 years. The judge accepted his plea and scheduled a pre-trial conference on January 21, 2026.
