(SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb.) — Nebraska State Patrol Trooper Vera Chavez initiated a traffic stop on a white 2006 Buick Lucerne for a broken taillight on July 12, 2025. The stop occurred near Avenue I and 29th Street, within 1,000 feet of Northwood Park.
During the stop, the trooper spoke with both the driver, Rosa M. Gamboa (45), and passenger, Jerry L. Gorisek (54), who admitted to recently smoking marijuana and turned over approximately 27.5 grams of marijuana leaf and a Ziploc bag containing a crystalline substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
A probable cause search of the vehicle uncovered an additional 59.4 grams of suspected methamphetamine in multiple small baggies, 4.7 grams of suspected tar heroin, and 1.5 grams of marijuana leaf. Officers also located 2.1 grams of suspected fentanyl, numerous baggies of various sizes, and two digital scales with white powdery residue. In the trunk, two fixed-blade knives, one with a 9-inch blade and one with a 4-inch blade, were found, with Gamboa claiming ownership. A frail and four glass pipes with burnt methamphetamine residue were also found on the passenger side.
Neither Gorisek nor Gamboa provided a drug tax stamp or advised they had paid drug taxes on the controlled substances. Additionally, approximately four Alprazolam pills were found not in a prescribed bottle, and neither individual provided a prescription. A combined total of $667.77 was located in multiple locations within the vehicle.
Both Gorisek and Gamboa were taken into custody. Gamboa was last seen in the public record August 20th. Gorisek faces a multitude of felony charges, including:
- Possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person
- Possession of Methamphetamine
- No drug tax stamp
- Possession of a controlled substance without tax paid
- Possession of a controlled substance near a youth center
- Two counts of Possession of Except Hazardous Drug
- Two counts of Possession of Controlled Substance
- Possession of Money While Violating
- Possession of Controlled Substance
He was scheduled to appear in court on October 17, but his defense council withdrew their motion for a bond review. His bond is currently set at $200,000/10%. His next court date will be December 10 for a pre-trial hearing.
