Eyewitness Account: Fire in Terrytown

“Terrytown, across the lake, I can see it from my front door.” – eyewitness

Please stay clear of the scene in Terrytown as firefighters work, and please pray for everyone involved.

We had somebody in contact with the lady in the fire and are already working to try to help her with some things. Thank you community.

Update from Scottsbluff Rural Fire Protection District

On January 5, 2026 at approximately 21:23pm, Scottsbluff Rural Fire was dispatched to a possible structure fire in the area of Kitty Court in Terrytown. Gering Fire Department was requested for mutual aid. Upon arrival of command, the structure was at approximately 70% involvement. A quick knock down was made by incoming units to stop any further progression. A primary search was done To confirm noone was inside the structure. No one was home at the time of the fire. Nebraska State Fire Marshal was called to investigate the fire. The cause was determined to be electrical. Units cleared scene shortly after midnight. The home was a total loss.

Responding to the fire were the following agencies; Gering Fire Department,Scottsbluff Police Department, Gering Police Department, Regional West EMS, Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Department, Scotts Bluff County Communications, NPPD and Black Hills Public Power.
