Torrington Police Department Investigates Attempted Bank Fraud
(TORRINGTON, Wyo.) — On May 12th, 2026, at approximately 1:30pm, Torrington Police Department officers responded to Points West Community Bank on the report of a suspect attempting to assume a customer’s identity to fraudulently withdraw funds from the bank. An alert bank employee noticed the attempt and alerted bank management and law enforcement.

Officers arrived on scene and detained the adult suspect, who was later taken into custody for Identity Theft, False Identity, and Attempt to Commit a Felony.
The suspect is not a resident of Torrington.
These charges are based on probable cause developed by law enforcement officers during their investigation, all defendants should be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
There were no reported threats of violence or harm made towards any customers or staff members in the bank, and there is no indication of an ongoing threat or public safety concern related to this incident.
