EWC Active Threat Training

(TORRINGTON, Wyo.) — This past week, the Torrington Police Department hosted their annual Active Threat training at Eastern Wyoming College. 

The training is designed to provide law enforcement officers with the decision-making skills, tactics, and teamwork they need to save lives when our community is in danger.  The training included classroom instruction and a series of scenarios that were designed to replicate incredibly challenging circumstances that have occurred in other communities across the country.  

Torrington PD was grateful to have officers from the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Goshen County Sheriff’s Office, and members of their team participate in the training together. 

This type of training is the gold standard of preparation for our law enforcement officers, but it is a lot of work, and they couldn’t make it happen without the support they receive from community partners and volunteers. 

As always, a big THANK YOU to Eastern Wyoming College for their ongoing support and for letting law enforcement invade their space for a few days.

Appreciation was shown for the dedication and assistance of their partners in Emergency Management – Chuck Kenyon (City of Torrington) and Thomas Bozeman (Goshen County).  

The real-life scenarios that make this training so beneficial for the officers wouldn’t be possible without the amazing folks who serve as role-players.  They graciously volunteer their time, and some of them suffer lots of bumps and bruises, to make the training a success.
