And speaking of crossbreeding systems, we had a chance to speak with Gordon Jameson from Jameson Ranch in Quinter, Kansas, where they specialize in some crossbreeding. What about the Angus and Hereford cross? What are your thoughts on that? The cross is widely accepted and it really does drive a significant portion of our market.

If it weren’t for the black cattle out there to cross with the Hereford, it would restrict our market greatly. Another cross that we’re finding a lot of acceptance in is in the south country. They’re crossing with the Brahmins and using the F1s, which they almost demand some here down in that country.

So, the Tiger Stripe female, the Brahma Hereford cross is accepted in that area just as strongly as black baldies are up here. So, it is a market that we cater to and try to supply what they demand. Gordon Jameson from Jameson Ranch, Quinter, Kansas.
