A Burger Feed For Our Firefighters

(MITCHELL, Neb.) — When the call comes in, volunteer firefighters don’t punch a clock—they leave their homes, families, jobs and everyday lives behind to answer the call. They do it because their neighbors need them.

Across our communities, volunteer firefighters give countless hours to training, responding to emergencies, helping at accidents and standing ready whenever they are needed. Their service often happens quietly and without much recognition, but their commitment makes a tremendous difference.

That’s why RedZ Bar & Grill and Rodriguez Brothers Processing in Mitchell are taking an opportunity to say thank you with a meal for the local firefighters who give so much to their communities.

A free burger feed for all local firefighters and their families will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2026, beginning at 5 p.m. at RedZ Bar & Grill in Mitchell, Nebraska.

The event is being hosted by Rodriguez Brothers Processing and RedZ Bar & Grill as a way to show appreciation for the area’s volunteer firefighters and their families.

The community can also help support local fire departments. Anyone wishing to contribute to the event or donate useful items to local departments—including Gatorade, bottled water, granola bars, beef jerky or similar supplies—is encouraged to contact Mike Roberts at RedZ Bar & Grill or Rigo Rodriguez at Rodriguez Brothers Processing.

A burger may only take a few minutes to eat, but the message behind it is much bigger: Thank you to the men and women who volunteer their time, courage and energy to help protect our communities.

To every volunteer firefighter who has ever dropped what they were doing to answer the call—we appreciate you, and we’re grateful for your service.
