Welfare Check Leads to Arrest

(OSHKOSH, Neb.) — A welfare check involving a minor child in Garden County has led to an extensive investigation and the arrest of an Oshkosh man on multiple serious charges. The investigation began after a concerned caller contacted the Garden County Sheriff’s Office, prompting deputies to look further into the child’s circumstances.

A call into the Garden County Sheriff’s Office requesting the welfare of a minor child led to the arrest of Jericho D. Neal, 28, of Oshkosh, for charges related to sexual abuse and exploitation involving a child.

On July 29, 2026 at approximately 12:27 pm, Deputies with the Garden County Sheriff’s Office conducted a welfare check on the minor child. During the investigation, information had developed that the child had allegedly been previously abused, but was never reported.

Deputies established that Neal had been in a relationship with the child’s mother and had been residing in the same household. During the investigation, Deputies recovered a sexually explicit content of a minor from Neal’s cell phone.
On August 28, 2026 an arrest warrant was secured for Neal for:

• Sexual Assault of a Child in the First and Third Degree
• Child Abuse- Sexual Abuse/Sexual Exploitation
• Knowingly Creating Child Sexual Abuse Material
• Knowingly Possessing or Receiving Child Sexual Abuse Material
• Willful Failure to Report Suspected Child Abuse or Neglect

Neal was subsequently arrested on the warrant without incident, His bond has been set at $1,000,000 with his next court date scheduled at a later date and time.

This case remains pending in the Garden County Court. Additional information may be released as the investigation and court proceedings permit.
