Juvenile Injured in Mini Bike Crash

(SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb.) — Initial scanner traffic Friday night reported a motorcycle accident on West 27th Street in Scottsbluff, with police on scene and one male injured. West 27th Street between Avenue B and Broadway was temporarily closed before reopening at approximately 10:09 p.m.

Scanner information is preliminary and can change once officers arrive on scene and complete their investigation. According to the Scottsbluff Police Department, the incident involved a 13-year-old boy riding a motorized mini bike and a vehicle.

At approximately 9:54 p.m. Sept. 11, a Scottsbluff police officer heard a collision near West 27th Street and Avenue B and observed the juvenile and his mini bike lying in the westbound lanes. The officer immediately requested emergency assistance.

According to a witness, the juvenile was traveling eastbound on the sidewalk when a white Dodge Durango driven by Kira Poor Bear exited the FTC parking lot without stopping and the two collided.

The juvenile reported severe pain in his left leg and was transported to Regional West Medical Center for treatment of a suspected broken left leg.

Poor Bear was cited for failing to yield the right of way when exiting a driveway. The juvenile was cited for violating the city’s mini bike ordinance.

The Scottsbluff Police Department was assisted by the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Department, Scottsbluff Fire Department and Regional West Emergency Medical Services.
