(GERING, Neb.) — A 52-year-old Scottsbluff man is awaiting sentencing in November after entering a no-contest plea stemming from probation violations and a prior hit-and-run incident.
According to court filings, Tony L. McBride was initially charged following a minor collision November 8, 2024, near Avenue D and West 21st Street in Scottsbluff.
Investigators said McBride asked the other driver not to involve law enforcement before leaving the scene. Officers identified McBride through photos taken by the other driver and determined he was driving with a revoked license. He also had prior driving suspensions on his record.
McBride pleaded no contest in August 2025 to driving while revoked, a Class 4 felony. District Court Judge Andrea Miller sentenced him to 12 months of probation and a 15-year driver’s license revocation.
In mid-2026, District 12 probation staff filed allegations that McBride was not complying with the terms of his probation, including failing to appear for multiple required in-person appointments in April and May.
At a court appearance Sept. 17, 2026, McBride appeared with defense attorney Lauren Newell and prosecutor Allison Witcofski. McBride waived the waiting period, was arraigned on an amended information and entered a no-contest plea.
Judge Miller accepted the plea, ordered an updated presentence investigation report and scheduled sentencing for Nov. 10, 2026. McBride’s bond remains in effect under the previously established conditions.
