(HYANNIS, Neb.) — A traffic stop following a report of a reckless driver led to a DUI arrest and felony drug charges Monday evening in Grant County.
According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were contacted around 8:30 p.m. Oct. 5 about a reckless driver. Deputies located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop after observing the driver’s actions.
During contact with the driver, a law enforcement officer detected the odor of alcohol and began a DUI investigation.
During the investigation, deputies reportedly found felony-level drugs in the vehicle and on the driver’s person.
The driver was arrested and transported to the Box Butte County Jail on suspicion of DUI and felony drug-related charges.
The sheriff’s office reminded motorists that driving under the influence can result in criminal charges and urged anyone who consumes alcohol to avoid driving.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
