(GERING, Neb.) — A 35-year-old man has entered a no-contest plea to a felony methamphetamine charge in a case stemming from a February narcotics investigation in Scottsbluff.
Fredi Ramirez Torres entered the plea under an agreement that amended his original charge of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute to possession of methamphetamine weighing 10 to 27 grams, a Class 1D felony. A separate charge of possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute was dismissed under the agreement.
According to court affidavits, Ramirez Torres was arrested Feb. 27 after Nebraska State Patrol investigators stopped a red Nissan Xterra in a retail parking lot near 1508 East 20th Street. A search of the vehicle reportedly uncovered approximately one pound of methamphetamine and an estimated 2,000 fentanyl pills.
Ramirez Torres was a passenger in the vehicle and was taken into custody by a Nebraska State Patrol investigator before being booked into the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center.
Sentencing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, in Scotts Bluff County District Courtroom 1.
