(GERING, Neb.) — A local 20-year-old entered a plea agreement Wednesday in Scotts Bluff County District Court in a case involving felony weapons charges.
According to court records, Rochne J. Gukeisen was originally charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a juvenile offender and possession of a machine gun or short rifle/shotgun, both Class 4 felonies stemming from a May 21 incident.
Under a plea agreement filed Oct. 21, prosecutors dismissed the machine gun charge in exchange for Gukeisen entering a no-contest plea to the unlawful possession of a firearm charge. The offense carries a potential penalty of up to two years in prison, 12 months of post-release supervision or a $10,000 fine.
Judge Miller accepted the no-contest plea and ordered a presentence investigation. Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. Bond was continued at $15,000, with a 10% deposit required.
