A Pill for a Puff

(TERRYTOWN, Neb.) — A Scottsbluff man is headed to trial on a felony drug distribution charge following a pretrial conference October 21 in Scotts Bluff County District Court.

According to an affidavit filed by Scottsbluff police, officers were dispatched June 17 to an apartment at 93 Gary St. in Terrytown regarding a resident who was locked out. During a search of the residence, officers found THC paraphernalia and a folded receipt inside a backpack containing a blue pill identified as alprazolam, commonly known as Xanax.

An individual at the scene told officers that Jonathan Sapp, 31, had given her the pill the previous day in exchange for smoking products. She also alleged that Sapp had been selling his prescription medication. Officers found a prescription bottle belonging to Sapp that had been filled two days earlier with 60 alprazolam pills. Only 32 pills remained in the bottle.

Sapp was arrested and charged with distribution of a controlled substance, a Class 3A felony. He previously pleaded not guilty.

During Wednesday’s proceedings, Judge Miller conducted the pretrial conference and scheduled the case for trial during the November 2026 jury term. Sapp remains free after posting a $4,050 cash bond.
