HUSA Nov 5 2026 – Jackson Woodruff

Welcome to the Harvest USA Report. I’m Brian Hale. An original production of Howard Hale Broadcasting, now expanded throughout North America.

In this interview, David Woodruff is talking to Jackson Woodruff about irrigation upgrades this past year. Let’s join this conversation in progress about the Nelson 55 sprinkler. Because of the way that the sprinkler works, the Nelson 55 sprinkler, we don’t get a whole lot of blockage like we used to when I had to restrict that valve.

Because the way it was before, it was just a plate that was kind of welded up, and then they kind of made it jagged, and then the water would come straight out of the pipe, hit this little plate, and kind of just, the plate would deflect it. But it would put out so much water, and it was in such a way that it was just wasting the water. It wouldn’t shoot it out very far.

So I had to restrict how much came out with the valve. So we’ve had very little blockage just since I did that Nelson 55. So it’s been a big improvement to the way we irrigate.

And what else have we done? There’s an old Ford 300 motor that runs on natural gas, and it runs the water pump, but it also has two pulleys coming off the front of the engine where the fan belt is. And those two belts run the hydraulic pump for the T&L pivot, which obviously for those that may not know is the way that you power the pivot so that it will actually walk all through hydraulics. And so when you run the Ford 300 engine, it pumps the water in it, and it runs the operation of the pivot through hydraulics.

Jackson Woodruff with the upgrades they made with the new pivot system. That’s going to do it for today’s Harvest USA report. Thanks again for listening, and may God bless.

I’m Brian Hale.
