Glorious! Day 4
The Book of Revelation is about showing what the foundation of life is to be. Through it, we realize that there is a plan, there is a hope, there is a future, and God is taking us in that direction.
People will never listen to anyone who preaches endurance from the comfort of an easy chair. It is the person who has already experienced trouble who can help others through it. That is why John mentions that he himself has endured trials.
There is a lot of symbolism in Revelation. Different numbers signify different things in Scripture. For example, the number seven is about completion. God completed his work of creation in seven days. There are 52 times that Revelation talks about the number seven. In Revelation, John declares Jesus’ message to seven churches, symbolizing the completeness of the Church.
If we read carefully, we will find that there are also seven blessings God wants to give us. There is a blessing for…
- 1. The one who reads,
Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy,
Revelation 1:3a
- 2. Those who hear the words of this prophecy and keep what is written in it,
and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.
Revelation 1:3b
- 3. Those who stay awake,
“Look, I come like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake and remains clothed, so as not to go naked and be shamefully exposed.”
Revelation 16:15
- 4. Those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb,
Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” And he added, “These are the true words of God.”
Revelation 19:9
- 5. Those who have taken part in the first resurrection,
Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection.
Revelation 20:6a
- 6. Those who keep the words of this prophecy and this book.
“Look, I am coming soon! Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy written in this scroll.”
Revelation 22:7
- 7. Those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.
“Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.
Revelation 22:14
The complete blessing is that Jesus Christ can live inside your heart through the Holy Spirit. The blessing is that now we are a new creation in Christ. We are made completely new. The old is gone and the new has come. Now, I am a branch that is attached to the Vine. Now, I am one who belongs to Him. I abide in Him. He lives in us and we live inside of Him.
In Revelation, God shows us that we may walk in blessing and encouragement, not in confusion. God is in control. There is a plan, a future, and a hope. Jesus desires to bless you, and His blessings are complete.
Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.”
Revelation 14:13
