December Weather Summary

December 2023 overall was a very warm month across our area. Cheyenne, Laramie, Rawlins, Scottsbluff, and Sidney all recorded top 10 warmest Decembers on record! While we certainly had some unusually mild days last month, the lack of significant cold was perhaps more noteworthy. Cheyenne didn’t drop below 10F in December, which hasn’t happened since 2002!

Precipitation was a mixed back across the area. Most locations ended drier than normal, but a few locations in Nebraska managed above normal precipitation largely thanks to the post-Christmas snow storm.

The month started off very windy, but wind speeds fell off towards the end of the month (besides the blizzard on the 26th of course).
