February Snow Totals

Here’s an update on the seasonal snowfall across our area!

After a terrible start to the snow accumulation season through early January, February made a pretty remarkable comeback in the mountains. The Snowy and Sierra Madre ranges both recorded 2nd wettest Februarys on record. This helped boost snowpack from near record lows at the start of 2024 to near normal or even slightly above normal as we enter March!

The Laramie range had a good month in February also, but it wasn’t enough here to get snowpack back up to normal.

Snowfall was also above normal over the plains, but the warm temperatures meant that this snow didn’t stick around very long. Both Cheyenne and Scottsbluff are fairly close to average in terms of season-to-date snowfall. March and April are the snowiest months of the year for our area though, so we’ll see where we end up in a few weeks!
