Our weekly reflections are as follows:

Fire:
• Career staff attended all-employee staff meeting.
• Met with Finance on Medicare Ground Ambulance Data Collection.
• Weekly department training was on Heavy Rescue 361 and ARFF Operations.
• Work continues on upper restroom remodel.
Chamber:
• The Chamber is prepping for a couple big committee meetings, collecting all the Easter Eggs from the Easter Bunnies Helpers (big thank you to St. Agnes, RSVP, Highland Park and all the helpers).
• Looking for volunteers to help disperse the eggs by age group.
• Beauty on the Bricks had a full open house, congrats!
• Golden Hour is selling out on their Saturday dinners.
• APSF is collecting donations for the scholarship auction.
Streets:
• Ongoing work to grade alleys.
• Replacement of missing traffic signs.
• Road grader training.
• Light repair on dump trucks.
• Ongoing storm sewer drain cleaning.
• Cleaning and maintenance of vehicles.
• Installation of new handicap parking area in meadows park.
• Completed grade work on 1st and Williamette.
• Installation of pickup beacon light.
• Application of slice after snow.
Transit:
• 813 riders this week.
Water/Sewer:
• Added packing and adjusted booster pump motor.
• Worked on valve at Elkhorn well.
• Collected weekly water samples and airport samples.
• Replaced batteries in backup at Elkhorn Well.
• Fixed communications at sewer lake.
• Worked on airport well 2 sensors.
• Vactored out wash rack sand pits.
• Completed 16 locates.
• Completed 32 utility office work orders.
• TV storm sewer at 3rd and Potash.
• Working on quotes for budget items.
• 210 total water radios installed.
• 2 people attended training for continuing education.
Landfill:
• 203 customers this week.
• 308 tons of refuse week.
• Worked on budget items for CIP.
• Attended all employee huddle.
• Conducted baler repairs, loader repairs, and bobcat repairs.

Electric:
• Installed new conductor and finished the three-phase rebuild on CR 58.
• Started a new three-phase line extension on CR 62, west of Schiff feedlot for feedlot expansion project.
• Set a new secondary pole and attached secondary wires for a service upgrade south of Sarpy and CR 61.
• Energized service for new Westco fertilizer storage building.
• Repaired/replaced several streetlights.
• All personnel attended quarterly city wide “huddle”.
Parks:
• Pumped out the drainage pits at 6th St. underpass and cleaned the mud out from around the pumps.
• Continued installing crushed concrete on the North side of the 9th St tennis courts.
• Pumped out the swimming pool and met with the contractor about installing roll up doors on the bathhouse entrances.
• Removed diving board base at the swimming pool and took it to H & H to be cleaned up and repainted.
• Repaired and started the aerators at Laing lake.
• Picked up and repaired a downtown bench that was broken.
• Snow removal.
• Worked on equipment as necessary.
Golf:
• Play has continued to be steady when the weather allows.
• Inventory for the 2024 golf season is rolling in.
• Staff works on the course as weather necessitates and allows.
• Working on equipment and making repairs as necessary.
RSVP & Senior Center:
• Continue serving dine-in and delivery meals to the community.
• Sixteen volunteers worked in the community this week.
• Welcomed a new employee to the center.
• The senior center hosted a card party, bingo and movie afternoon this week.
Alliance Library:
• It was a crazy busy week at the Alliance Public Library! We have averaged 125 patrons per day this week! We were happy to host the Western Library System’s Summer Reading Workshop for 30 Panhandle librarians. We also are knee deep in spring cleaning and organization. It is amazing how many things a library can accumulate over the years. We plan to tackle the basement in the near future, which will be a huge undertaking.
• The Luck of the Irish contest for adults is in full swing and ends on March 30th. Any checkout from the adult collection means one entry into the pot of gold for a chance to win a night at the Tin Lizzie Gaming Resort in Deadwood!
• Children’s Librarian Cynthia Horn did Cat in the Hat outreach visits with three Head Start classrooms and St. John’s Preschool. She also held Story Time sessions with Dr. Seuss. The Search for Lucky Dog continues, as well as Read Across America with Dr. Seuss and Luck of the Irish for youth. Cynthia also held sign-up this week for Geli Plate Printing with Carnegie Arts Center, and participated in the Summer Reading workshop with Western Library System. She shared upcoming events on KCOW, organized the Book Mobile with Thursday deliveries, and worked on preparations for craft projects.
• Technical Services Librarian Emily Nelson compiled the Director’s Report for February, processed a book club kit and Interlibrary Loans, and assisted patrons. She also worked on reorganization of the Heritage Collection and made Bookmobile deliveries.
• Library Clerks Pam Becker and Stephanie Hamilton have been very helpful with the spring contests and preparing new materials for circulation.
Knight Museum & Sandhills Center:
• We hosted the monthly scrapbook group, if you would like to know more about this group, check out our Museum Scrappers Facebook page or call Becci at 762-2384.
• We hosted Pesticide Training for the UNL Extension Office.
• We hosted the BNSF training session.
• The KCOW Birthday display is still up in the Theater, come check it out as it will be leaving soon.
• We hosted Point of Rock DAR’s monthly meeting.
Administration:
• Began work on a housing grant application.
• Work on FY25 Budget.
• Met with engineers and architects on the proposed City Hall Addition for ADA access.
• Attended the monthly BBDC board meeting. The new director is expected to begin work in the coming weeks.
• Spoke at the all-employee meeting on certain employee benefits, social media use, and accident reporting procedures.
• Found a resolution to what has been an ongoing personnel issue.
• Met with various department heads.
• Chief David Leavitt will tentatively begin work on April 1, 2024.

Tracy was also arrested on new charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine within 1,000 ft of a Playground and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. No bond has been set.
