Burglar Arrested

(SIDNEY, Neb.) – From the Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office

On Wednesday afternoon, August 14th, the Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Kimball County Sheriff, Dave Hottell, who advised of information relating to the recent burglaries in rural Gurley and Dalton, Nebraska. Sheriff Deputies responded to Kimball County and recovered evidence and information relating to the burglaries. This evidence resulted in possible suspects being developed in the burglaries.

On Thursday, August 15th, three search warrants were executed by members of the Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office, two on residences and one on a storage unit, all located in Sidney, Nebraska. Several items of stolen property were recovered as well as illegal narcotics. Through this investigation, several suspects have been identified as having involvement in the burglaries in Cheyenne County as well as crimes in Kimball County. As of this press release, one person has been arrested and the sheriff’s office will be seeking arrest warrants for the remaining suspects.

Robert J. Lester Jr., 27, of Sterling, CO was arrested on (2) two counts of Burglary, Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Prohibited Person (Firearm) and Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamiine).

The Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office investigation into these matters is continuing.
