(O’NEIL, Neb.) – Severe thunderstorms gathered enough power to pummel northern Nebraska with hail, the largest being reported in O’Neil.
US 81 Corridor weather alerts and road conditions reported the early warning for Cherry County and surrounding area this evening:

7:05 PM CDT MONDAY AUGUST 26
Severe Storms may impact Northern CHERRY COUNTY and portions of North-Central Nebraska mainly along and north of HIGHWAY 20
Several storm chaser reported the huge cloud and the resulting massive hail stones. Take a look as some of these photos posted on Facebook.

THE SUPRCELL STRUCTURE before the softballs began raining down! Straight up corkscrew into the cold airmass above! Look how the meso leans, a textbook example of wind shear keeping the updraft clear and the precip (hail) falling away from it allowing it to sustain. We were about 2 miles east of O’Neil. I wonder if they activated the hail canons





GRAPEFRUIT HAIL Having a HAIL of a time in Nebraska! This was in ONeil! 4.04in in Diameter! Collecting these for samples for the Weather Service!
