REWARD For Loose Emu’s

(ALVO, Neb.) — Scanner traffic is where you’re going to hear the unusual calls. A typical day on the scanner is just not a typical day. Especially for our friends at Southeast Nebraska scanner who reported on a strange call in a small town just outside of Lincoln.

Animal call was sent to deputies around 6:45.  2 911 calls came in for an Emu running on Hwy 34, east towards Alvo.  Another call came in advising the Emu was playing chicken with traffic. 

Deputy: “I’m sure he’s looking for Doug, but I’ll be enroute”

Anyone see the Emu’s on their way to work? We have heard there is a $50/Emu reward… if you can catch them (make sure to record the video horizontally). Also, apparently there are TWO Emu’s that are out.

Okay okay okay. Everyone keeps asking for an Emu update. We have not heard any recent radio traffic, but here’s what we have gathered after going through all of the comments. 

The Emu was first spotted Tuesday 9/24 near Alvo, but it had also been spotted near Eagle, Elmwood, and possibly Avoca at one point over the last 3 days. 

The Emu has not been captured since the original post on 9/24 and is still at large.

The owner posted that a fence post broke and there was a $50 reward per bird. PLOT TWIST, there’s 2 Emu’s on the loose. 🤯

From what we can tell, one of them was last spotted around Grandpa’s Woods Golf Course, but that was also on Wednesday, so who knows if they’re still in that area 🤷‍♀️

On Thursday the owner upped to reward to $100 per bird, however late last night, we also saw a comment stating they upped it again to $150 per bird. We have not found anything yet confirming this by the owner though.

The owner also put in the post that they like dog food, are people friendly, but get spooked with fast movements.

There may or may not be an Emu Tracking Team forming, however, this is part is just jokes…. we think 🤣 Mark Sobota
