Animal Cruelty Update

(KIMBALL, Neb.) — Twenty-seven year old Eldon Lewis pled no contest to a single count of Class 4 Felony Cruelty to Animal Resulting in Death. His sentencing date is March 4.

During the investigation, authorities found evidence of an animal being killed in the garage.  “There was blood spatter, animal hair, an axe, multiple knives, a machete, and broken zip-ties, showing that the animal was bound and restrained,” the affidavit states. 

The affidavit also states that Lewis later admitted in an interview with officers that he did kill the cat by using an axe. 

(KIMBALL, Neb.) — On October 11, 2024, at approximately 10:00 AM, officers from the Kimball Police Department executed a search warrant at 404 S. Myrtle Street as part of an ongoing animal cruelty investigation. The warrant was obtained following reports that a male individual had allegedly killed, butchered, and consumed a pet cat.

During the search, officers uncovered substantial evidence of animal cruelty. As a result of the investigation, Eldon Lewis has been arrested and is facing charges of animal cruelty. Additionally, Mr. Lewis is charged with violating a protection order.

The Kimball Police Department remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all animals and urges the public to report any suspected cases of animal abuse.
