Bitterness – Total Forgiveness Ch 3.2

When Jesus said, “If you forgive men when they sin against you, your Heavenly Father will also forive you,” He was not talking about how to achieve salvation. He was referring to receiving the anointing of God and participating in an intimate relationship with the Father. Unless we are walking in a state of forgiveness toward others, we cannot be in an intimate relationship with God.

Being Honest With Ourselves About Bitterness

“The greater the sin you must forgive, the greater the measure of the Spirit that will come to you.”

  • When people don’t mean to hurt
  • Hurt caused by insensitivity
  • Hurt caused by sins knowingly committed

Total Forgiveness is a Chosen Privilege

Even though we do not achieve salvation through our works, we are required to do good works, and one of those is forgiving those who have hurt us.

What Happens When We Don’t Forgive?

  1. Salvation is unconditional; fellowship with the Father is conditional.
  2. Justification before God is unconditional; the anointing of the Spirit is conditional.
  3. Our status in the family of God is unconditional; our intimacy with Christ is conditional.
  4. Our eternal destiny – whether we go to heaven or to hell – is fixed, but receiving an additional reward is conditional.
