A Fremont man has been sentenced to more than four years in federal prison for throwing rocks at a medical helicopter attempting to land at a local hospital.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Drew Beerbohm, 35, was sentenced Thursday to four years and four months in prison after being convicted of attempted destruction of an aircraft.

The incident occurred on Aug. 29, 2020, when Beerbohm was seen on surveillance footage throwing rocks at a medical helicopter as it tried to land on a helipad at a Fremont hospital. Witnesses, including the pilot, also saw him. The aircraft was forced to abort the landing, and as it flew away, Beerbohm threw another unidentified object toward it.

Following his prison term, Beerbohm will serve three years of supervised release. Federal sentences do not allow for parole.
