Mitchell Car Fire

(MITCHELL, Neb.) — A local Mitchell businessman reported a large fire to us Wednesday evening that appeared to be coming from behind the Kwik Stop in Mitchell.

Scanner traffic indicated Mitchell Fire Department called to the scene.

Moments later, this video was sent in by a scanner inside who happened to be on-scene.

We sincerely appreciate those scanner insiders who take the time to send news tips, photos and videos to us.

After the scene was safely cleared, the Mitchell Fire Department posted the results of their call.

From Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department

This evening at approximately 6:23 p.m., Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a possible car on fire just to the northeast of the Kwik Stop gas station.

Crews arrived shortly after to find a car fully involved and some grass burning as well.

The fire was quickly knocked down and contained to a small area surrounding the car. MVFD responded with 5 trucks and 9 personnel.
