Brawl on Avenue H

(SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb.) — On July 2, 2025, officers with the Scottsbluff Police Department received a call for service to 1725 Avenue H, where it was reported that a physical altercation had occurred.

Upon arrival, Officer Littau observed an individual who pointed out that “their mom”, identified as Katrina Carrera, was involved.

Along with Officer Muniz they went into Katrina’s residence where they observed her with her head over the sink tending to her nose and left eye which were bleeding. She told officers it was Schalea Schanaman who rolled up “talking ****” and exited her vehicle and started hitting Katrina.

After attempting to locate Schanaman at her residence, officers resorted to looking for possible cameras in the area. Which they found, on a ring camera officer Littau witnessed a vehicle pull in front of 1725 Avenue H.

Schanaman can be seen exiting her vehicle and approaching the vehicle of Carrera. Carrera exited and both women were standing in the middle of the road exchanging words before Schanaman could be seen turning around and walking back to her vehicle. That’s when according to video, Carrera extended her left arm before swinging with her right hand causing Schalea to put her head down in an attempt to protect herself. Then the physical altercation took place for over a minute. Officers noted Carrera had the upper hand by pinning Schanaman to the car. After the altercation, Schanaman can be seen entering her vehicle and driving away.

On July 4, Schanaman contacted SPD to tell her side of the story. According to Schanaman, she had been driving when she noticed Carrera at 1725 Avenue H and wanted to stop and ask her a question.  That’s when Carrera asked if she thought she was gonna let Schanaman come to her house and “punk her”.

Schanaman reported that she had told Carrera six times to stop. She also sent in pictures of her injuries.

Schalea Schanaman appeared before the Judge Mickey on September 10, 2025 for sentencing. Judge Mickey order she pays the maximum fine allowed of $500 plus court costs.
