Medel, 47, was arrested on September 28, 2025, and is facing multiple charges including her sixth offense for driving under the influence, driving under revocation, possession of open alcohol containers, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and no valid registration.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, a law enforcement officer observed a GMC Sierra with expired 2023 registration tags on September 28, 2025, leading to a traffic stop near Highway 26 and E 20th Street in Scottsbluff. The driver admitted to not having a driver’s license, was found to have a revoked license.

Upon questioning, the suspect denied having alcohol in the vehicle, but officers observed a case of Bud Light and several open alcohol containers in the rear passenger floorboard and middle console. Officers also located a glass smoking pipe and grinder with marijuana residue. Medel showed signs of impairment during Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and a Preliminary Breath Test indicated alcohol above the legal limit. She later submitted to a blood draw. Her driving history reveals five prior convictions for driving under the influence.

Medel appeared in County Court on October 31, 2025, before Judge Leo Dobrovolny. Following an examination of her financial affidavit, William Peters was appointed as her attorney at the expense of Scotts Bluff County. Medel was arraigned on the charges and entered a plea of not guilty to all charges. The case is set for a pretrial conference on February 18, 2026, at 8:00 AM.
