By 10:40, the 10-40 was out the window

Not a good start to the day when your 10-40 or 420 goes out the window. At 9:40 am mountain, a trooper from the Nebraska State Patrol called in a traffic stop.

Good news… The driver pulled over. 

Bad news… one of the two in the vehicle started chucking 10-40 (drugs) out the window.

The next thing we heard was that the trooper had one female 10-15, and that means in custody, and on the way to jail in this case. The male was released at the scene.

Bike Accident in Gering

The next significant call came around 2:30 pm where a sixties year old female fell off her bike in Gering and her husband reported a possible broken arm. He chose to transport her to the hospital via private vehicle and ambulances were canceled.

No other vehicles were involved, to our knowledge.

Flippin’ Hitchhiker

An interesting call followed that one that involved a hitchhiker on Highway 385 near mile marker 90. That would be about two miles north of Angora.

The caller reported that male was jumping in front of traffic and flipping drivers off. Further information indicated that he was in his thirties, was wearing a blue hoodie and tan overalls, and traveling northbound.

A trooper caught up with him at mile marker 95 and provided him a ride. Traffic indicated that he was let out at mile marker 111 on Highway 385 and the trooper said he had quote “no issues with him.”

Eleven Year Old Assaulted

At 3:12 pm, dispatch received a call for an eleven year old male who had been assaulted in Gering. Injuries were primarily scratches and bruises, and he was transported to Regional West Medical Center arriving at 3:48 pm.

There was no apparent traffic that indicated law enforcement on scene. Much scanner traffic is encrypted or partial. There may have been other traffic that we were not able to hear.

Possible Road Rage

Just two minutes later, there’s a call for a possible road rage incident with a reckless FedEx Truck driver traveling at high speed on highway 26 eastbound near the Sportsman Inn.

Troopers were unable to locate the vehicle.

Morrill Injury Accident

Morrill Nebraska was the location of the next significant call, with a man who was injured in an accident on the highway near the Qwik Stop. He was transported to Regional West Medical Center.

There was no further indication of how many vehicles were involved, or the nature of the accident. The call began with a man needing assistance who was involved in an accident on the highway.

Back to Back Calls at Ballpark

We may be delusional, but that would not be a first. We believe we heard back to back calls for females passed out in the bathroom at Oregon Trail Park in Gering.

The first call was for a female in the bathroom who was passed out at 7:09 pm. Ambulances responded and the patient refused transport.

Then, for some reason, we heard another page out for the same type of call. But this time, it was a 21 or 22 year-old female, with a cut above her eye and feeling woozy in the bathrooms at Oregon Trail Park in Gering. It sounded quite familiar. Dispatch said the time stamp was 7:48 pm on that patient refusal.

Were we crazy, or were there two calls? Are you thinking what we’re thinking? Here’s a wild guess…

The initial evidence, if it was indeed two calls, sounds like there could have been a scuffle in the ladies room. That is just a wild guess. We will check the public record and see what further evidence we can gather.

Smell of Burning Wire

Listening through to midnight, the only other significant call seemed to come in the 10 pm hour in Mitchell with the odor of burning wire being reported on 19th Avenue. The reporting party was Black Hills Energy who was on scene. No further traffic was heard on this incident.
