(ALLIANCE, Neb.) — Thursday afternoon, a vehicle traveling the wrong way on a one way street hit a man riding a bicycle. Scanner followers advised the Alliance Police Department was on scene and taped off the area.

Scanner followers are reporting an unknown injury accident involving a vehicle vs pedestrian on Mississippi Street and 6th in Alliance, NE. APD currently has the area taped off as this is an ongoing investigation.

At approximately 11:57 a.m. today, officers with the Alliance Police Department and personnel from the Alliance Fire Department responded to the intersection of East 6th Street and Mississippi Avenue following a reported motor vehicle versus bicyclist crash.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male bicyclist who had sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle. The victim was transported by Alliance Fire Department EMS to Box Butte General Hospital for treatment.
Following an investigation, officers determined that the driver of the vehicle had been traveling the wrong direction on a one-way street when the collision occurred. During the investigation, officers also observed signs consistent with drug impairment.
The driver, identified as Zachary Dubray, M/O, DOB 7/28/85, was transported to Box Butte General Hospital, where blood samples were obtained pursuant to the investigation. Upon his release from the hospital, Dubray was transported to the Box Butte County Jail and charged with:
- Driving Under the Influence of Alcoholic Liquor or Drugs Causing Serious Bodily Injury (Felony)
- Driving the Wrong Way on a One-Way Street
- Willful Reckless Driving

As part of the investigation, both Dubray’s vehicle and the victim’s bicycle were impounded for evidentiary purposes.
The investigation remains ongoing. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation progresses pending the results of toxicology testing. As of this writing, bond had not been set.
As with all criminal cases, these charges are merely accusations, and Mr. Dubray is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
