(BRADY, Neb.) — A motorcycle crash on East Highway 30 has claimed the life of a North Platte man, while the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision remains ongoing.
On August 9th, 2026 at approximately 1:26 pm, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a injury accident that occurred near marker 199, East Highway 30.
The crash was reported as a pickup versus motorcycle. Deputies responded and found the crash occurred between two westbound vehicles.
During the investigation it was discovered Dale and Tammy Lake, operating a Honda Trike motorcycle, attempted to pass a John Deere tractor also traveling westbound. The John Deere tractor was being led by a red Ford F-250 pickup. Mr. Lake pulled back into the westbound lane of travel in between the tractor and red Ford. A pickup following Mr. Lake began to pass the tractor as well and attempted to overtake Mr. Lake. Mr. Lake approached the red Ford pickup and began to pass. Mr. Lake was unable to pass the red Ford pickup due to being passed by the other pickup and was unable to slow to avoid the collision.
Mr. and Mrs. Lake were thrown from the motorcycle. Helmets were worn by both Mr. and Mrs. Lake and both were transported by Brady and North Platte Fire to Great Plains Health for treatment of their injuries. Mr. Lake was transferred to Omaha for further treatment.
