Bicyclist Seriously Injured in Collision

(ALLIANCE, Neb.) — A bicyclist suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries Thursday morning after being struck by a pickup truck in an Alliance intersection.

The Alliance Police Department and Alliance Fire Department responded to the collision at approximately 6:59 a.m. Aug. 27 at the intersection of 3rd Street and Cody Avenue.

According to preliminary information from the Alliance Police Department, the bicyclist was traveling southbound on Cody Avenue near the intersection while a white 2013 Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling northbound.

The pickup truck entered the intersection while making a westbound turn on a green light and struck the bicyclist.

The bicyclist was transported to Box Butte General Hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

The collision remains under active investigation. Police said no further details will be released at this time, but additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
