(ALLIANCE, Neb.) — An Alliance woman was arrested Wednesday evening after allegedly fleeing from police during a vehicle pursuit that ended with four children inside the vehicle, according to the Alliance Police Department.
Officers were initially called to Dollar General at 1229 West 3rd Street at approximately 6:30 p.m. Sept. 9 for a reported disturbance. While officers were investigating, the vehicle involved returned to the area.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle using emergency lights and verbal commands, but the driver allegedly fled. Officers later located the vehicle traveling eastbound on West 3rd Street and attempted another traffic stop. The driver again failed to stop, prompting a pursuit.
The vehicle briefly reached approximately 55 mph before pulling into a driveway in the 600 block of Sweetwater Avenue. Officers conducted a felony traffic stop and arrested the driver, identified as 24-year-old Lylian Rose Star of Alliance.

Police said officers observed signs of impairment and conducted a DUI investigation. According to the department, Star submitted to a chemical test that showed a blood alcohol concentration of .176, more than twice Nebraska’s legal limit. Police also said Star admitted to using methamphetamine earlier in the day.
Four children, ages 9, 9, 8 and less than 1 year old, were found inside the vehicle.
Police said Star also resisted officers while being placed into a patrol vehicle.
Star was booked on suspicion of four counts of felony intentional child abuse with no injury, felony operation of a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, four counts of transporting a child while intoxicated, DUI with a blood alcohol concentration of .15 or greater with one prior conviction, resisting arrest, driving while revoked, willful reckless driving and unlawful acts relating to drugs.
The vehicle was towed and placed in the Alliance Police Department impound lot.
Alliance Police Chief David Leavitt credited officers with bringing the incident to a safe conclusion.
“This incident could have ended very differently,” Leavitt said. “Driving impaired is dangerous under any circumstances. Fleeing from officers while impaired and with four children inside the vehicle created an unacceptable risk to those children, our officers, and everyone else on the roadway. I am thankful our officers were able to bring this incident to a safe conclusion without anyone being injured.”
All persons arrested are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
