Sewer Steam Out

(SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb.) — Smoke-like vapor coming from a yellow Hertz truck prompted a Scottsbluff Fire Department response Wednesday morning.

At approximately 10 a.m., Scottsbluff Fire was dispatched to the area of Avenue B and West 27th Street for a report of smoke coming from the truck. Engine 1, Engine 3 and Scottsbluff 2 responded and made contact with the truck’s operator.

Firefighters determined the truck was not on fire. The company was using the vehicle to steam-clean sewer lines in the area. The work is expected to continue throughout the week in Scottsbluff and Gering.

The fire department said residents who see a large yellow truck producing what appears to be white smoke should not be alarmed, as the vapor is steam from the sewer-line work.
