Shots Fired Outside Bar

(CHEYENNE, Wyo.) — A 26-year-old Cheyenne man was arrested on multiple charges after a disturbance outside a local bar Halloween night escalated into a shooting, according to the Cheyenne Police Department. No injuries were reported despite several shots being fired in front of bystanders.

Officers responded to the Peppermill Bar parking lot, 1618 Stillwater Ave., at approximately 11:15 p.m. Oct. 31 after 911 callers reported a disturbance involving a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle and multiple gunshots.

Witnesses provided officers with cellphone video showing a vehicle accelerating out of the parking lot and striking a male pedestrian before attempting to leave.

The pedestrian did not appear to be injured, refused medical assistance and denied any involvement in the incident.

The video then showed a group of bystanders chasing the vehicle for a short distance before it stopped. The driver got out and fired several rounds from a handgun before fleeing the scene.

Officers observed what appeared to be several bullet strikes on the ground. Further investigation located five spent 9 mm shell casings in the roadway. No bystanders were injured.

As additional officers responded, they spotted a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle’s description leaving the area. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver threw a bottle of vodka out of the driver’s window.

Officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop and safely took the driver into custody. A 9 mm handgun was also recovered from the vehicle.

The Cheyenne Police Department thanked community members for reporting suspicious activity and providing timely descriptions and information that helped officers quickly locate and arrest the suspect.
