(GERING, Neb.) — A 27-year-old Scottsbluff man facing weapons and traffic charges stemming from an August incident was arrested again following a single-vehicle rollover crash near Scottsbluff.
Trey T. Pearce, 27, of Scottsbluff, was arrested Thursday night after deputies responded to an automated crash detection alert on Highline Canal Road. Judge Kristen Mickey set his bond at $50,000 with a 10% cash option during an initial court appearance Friday, according to court records.
Deputies reported finding a 2016 Ford F-350 resting on its driver’s side across the roadway while another vehicle attempted to pull it upright. Officers stopped the recovery effort and contacted Pearce, who reportedly showed signs of impairment and registered a preliminary breath test result above the legal limit, according to an affidavit.
During a search of the vehicle, officers located a disassembled 9 mm handgun, a 5-inch knife, an open bottle of spiced rum and a pre-rolled marijuana joint. Authorities noted that Pearce is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms.
Pearce was transported to Regional West Medical Center for a blood draw before being booked into the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center. He faces multiple charges, including possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, DUI and traffic infractions.
At the time of the crash, Pearce was out on a $1,350 bond stemming from an Aug. 23 traffic stop in Scottsbluff. In that case, he pleaded not guilty in District Court to felony firearm possession, DUI and willful reckless driving. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Jan. 20.
