Used Equipment SCAM

(COLUMBUS, Neb.) – There is a new “non existent” company in Columbus that has hit the internet, Wesson Equipment. They claim they have heavy equipment to sell – there is no such company.

A business that has a website is usually considered legitimate, but if you dig a little deeper you can see red flags.

Red Flag 1: The Facebook page has only beein in exsistence since July 8, 2025.
Red flag 2: The domain, wessonequipment.com, was just registered on July 9, 2025.
Red flag 3: Poor grammar found on the website. Yes, mistakes can be made, but this points to a foreigner.
Red flag 4: If you go to Google Street View, the location appears to be empty as of 2024, yet the website claims they have been in business since 2012.
Red flag 5: The only Google reviews are from 2 weeks ago, none before or since.
Red flag 6: A quick whois search for the email domain, wesson-equipment.com, shows the same registration date and the contact is located in Reykjavik, Iceland!

Smart buyers asked the community about the company first. On one post in the group Columbus, NE – Word of Mouth, several people commented about the location, that the company didn’t want people coming to them and that the prices are too good to be true.

As we dug deeper, it appears that this sort of scam has been going on for at least a year. We found an article from WOWT about a similar scam with a company called Goodway Equipment Center, supposedly out of Omaha. The BBB listing for that company has it listed as an F rating.

Fun fact; companies that are less than 6 months old can’t become accredited, because of the length of time they have been open.

Goodway’s listing had this notice from the BBB:

“Goodway Equipment Center was first reported to BBB on January 16, 2024. The business website stated an address in Omaha, Nebraska; however BBB confirmed that the address is not a valid address. Since then, consumers have reported similar websites by the names of MGT Pro Center, Wonder Auto Sale LLC, VBK Shift Center, VBK Platinum Motors, VBK Premier Spot, MBT Motors Plaza, VBK Wheels Plaza, MBT Pro Depot, MBT Premium Wheels, Goodway Motors Fleet, Goodway Tractor Garden, Goodway Vehicles Hub, Goodway Wheels Zone, Goodway Gear Depot, MBT Business Vehicles and MBT Silver Depot. The various website domains were privately registered by NameCheap, Inc., with the registrant’s contact location listed as Capital Region, Iceland. Also, there is no registration for these business names with the Nebraska or Kansas Secretary of State. The actual physical location of these entities is unknown.”

Columbus Nebraska Police Department reported that people from all over the country have gotten scammed by Wesson Equipment. “We are working to get the website taken down. If you have been scammed by this company please call your local law enforcement agency to file a report.” they said in their Facebook post.

Wednesday April 22 2026 - Scanner News - Panhandle Scanner News

Well things are getting a little squirrely out there with all of the power outages around the Panhandle. In fact, on the 21st at approximately 7.13 am, County Road 17 and Highway 92 was the 10-20 or location of said suspect, a squirrel, who caused a power outage that occurred recently. On Tuesday, Scottsbluff Rural Fire was dispatched to a fire in a ditch on County Road 17 south of Highway 92. The fire was started by a deadly combination of a squirrel and a transformer. Thank you to Roosevelt Public Power District for their quick response and getting the power issue resolved very quickly. In other scanner traffic, there was a smoke check in an apartment complex on 10th Street in Gering. Speaking of power outages, Torrington also experienced a power outage yesterday morning and the City of Gering has frequent power outages. Our hope is that we can get our infrastructure secured and stabilized. Also in Chappell, scanner traffic indicated that officers were responding to a high 10-73, or intoxicated pedestrian, with multiple firearms nearby. Troopers responded and the situation was de-escalated with verbal warnings given to all and one 10-12, or subject, given a ride home. Yesterday in Morrill, scanner traffic indicated an active carbon monoxide alarm. This would be a good time to remind everyone to please check your detectors regularly. But in the maturing stage, people not only learn what the Bible teaches but they apply the Bible to their life. As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; – Ephesians 4:14 Maturing people know better so they live better, and their life and habits look different than the world. You are growing as a disciple when your life starts looking different from the world. 1 Peter 1:14 As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. (NIV) In the infant stage, some people are still trying to figure out good from evil. They’re tossed to and fro. But in the maturing stage, people are training themselves to distinguish good from evil. They study God’s Word on their own and they’re applying God’s Word to their life. When people are in the maturing stage, they also start to recognize lies from the enemy they’ve believed that have held them back from God’s purpose. Maybe they’ve held onto the lie they can never do enough to earn God’s love, but the Word says: For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. – Ephesians 2:8-9 Or maybe they believe that they can never be free from their past, but it says in John, So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. – John 8:36 As they study God’s Word, they learn to reject and replace lies with the truth that God speaks over their life. By this, they deepen in maturity, trust, and faith in God. Mature people study God’s Word on their own. Mature people attend church faithfully. Mature people grow in the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-25). Mature people recognize their lifestyle should reflect God; not the world. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. – Galatians 5:22-25 God doesn’t want us to get stuck in the infant stage; He wants us to grow up! Reflect on today’s verses and ask God to help you enter the maturing stage.
