$1,000,000 Bond Set

(GERING, Neb.) — A Lyman man faces multiple felony charges after a law enforcement investigation uncovered a large quantity of illicit digital media on his personal electronic devices.

A.B. Herrera, 31, has been charged in Scotts Bluff County District Court with Class 2A felony counts of possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

According to court documents, the investigation began in May 2026 when law enforcement officers received a report regarding potential illicit material. Following initial inquiries, deputies executed a search warrant on May 28 at a residence on 8th Avenue in Lyman, seizing several electronic devices including cellphones, tablets, and computers.

A forensic examination of the seized devices conducted by the Nebraska State Patrol Technical Crimes Division revealed over 6,000 video files on Herrera’s cellphone. Investigators identified numerous files containing CSAM as well as other illegal material.

Herrera entered a plea of not guilty to the charges during a court appearance.

During a hearing on Sept. 25, 2026, District Court Judge Andrea Miller maintained Herrera’s bond at $1,000,000 with a 10% deposit requirement. Judge Miller scheduled a pretrial conference in the case for Dec. 9, 2026, with a jury trial set to begin on Jan. 4, 2027.
