Unfortunately , Our family’s baby girl (Aylin) passed away on Friday April 19th, 2024 in a car accident. Our father Agustin Portillo was also involved in the accident and faced various injuries. Due to this sudden and tragic event that our family was never prepared for and our father being the main provider of our family, we would greatly appreciate any donations/contributions. This not only put our family through a mental and emotional crisis but also a financial one due to all expenses coming out of our own pockets. We appreciate all thoughts and prayers and any donations. ANYTHING helps and we are beyond grateful, if you are unable to contribute financially even just a share is more than appreciated.

Those who had the privilege of getting to know Aylin will forever remember her as the silly, happy and beautiful girl she was. She was the light of our life, always knew how to make everyone around her laugh and feel so loved. We are devastated that she was taken from us way too soon, but we know in our hearts that she is now resting in the arms of our Lord. Thank you and God bless.

Desafortunadamente, la bebe de nuestra familia (Aylin) falleció el viernes 19 de abril del 2024 en un accidente automovilístico. Nuestro padre Agustín Portillo también estuvo involucrado en el accidente y sufrió diversas lesiones. Debido a este evento repentino y trágico; para el que nuestra familia nunca estuvo preparada y nuestro padre es el principal proveedor de la familia. Agradeceríamos mucho cualquier donación/contribución. Esto no solo puso a nuestra familia en una crisis mental y emocional, sino también financiera debido a que todos los gastos serán por nuestra propia cuenta. Agradecemos todos los pensamientos, oraciones y cualquier donación. CUALQUIER COSA ayuda y estamos más que agradecidos, si no puede contribuir financieramente, incluso solo un compartimiento de el link y sus oraciones es más que apreciada.

Quienes tuvieron el privilegio de conocer a Aylin siempre la recordarán como la niña juguetona, feliz y hermosa que era. Ella era la luz de nuestra vida, siempre supo hacer reír a todos los que la rodeaban y sentirse muy amados. Estamos devastados porque nos la quitaron demasiado pronto, pero sabemos en nuestro corazón que ahora descansa en los brazos de nuestro Señor. Gracias y Dios te bendiga.

May 11; Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

(SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb.) — Local USPS carriers would like to remind everyone that their annual food drive is May 11th!

Every second Saturday in May, letter carriers in more than 10,000 cities and towns across America collect the goodness and compassion of their postal customers, who participate in the NALC Stamp Out Hunger National Food Drive — the largest one-day food drive in the nation.

Led by letter carriers represented by the National Association of Letter Carriers (AFL-CIO), with help from rural letter carriers, other postal employees and other volunteers, the drive has delivered more than 1.82 billion pounds of food the past 30 years.

To donate, just place a box or can of non-perishable food next to your mailbox before your letter carrier delivers mail on the second Saturday in May. The carrier will do the rest. The food is sorted, and delivered to an area food bank or pantry, where it is available for needy families.

One in ten Americans face hunger every day in America. This drive is one way you can help those in your own city or town who need help.

We will be holding our annual soup supper on April 20th from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm.

There will be a variety of soups available for you to try and there will also be some desserts available.

Also don’t forget that we will be having a silent auction so make sure you come on by to eat some delicious food and gather with friends and family.

We hope to see everyone there!

Gering Fire to Host State Conference

We are excited to host the Nebraska State Volunteer Firefighters Association Annual Conference. However, we need your assistance.

Gering Fire Department is starting its 2024 fundraiser campaign to offset costs by hosting the NSVFA Conference.

Approximately 200 firefighters will attend the conference in Gering.

DID SOMEONE SAY PIE? 🥧🥧

🥧🥧 It’s that time of year again! We are selling pies for your Christmas festivities. We are raising money for our social club in the Day Rehab Program.

All proceeds will allow us to go on fun adventures and do fun projects together. Pie sales begin today and will end on December 18th.

Stop by 1509 1st Avenue to fill out an order form. Payment is expected at time of order.
