Medical Career Opportunities

From Chadron Community Hospital & Health Services

On November 29th, forty-five 10th grade students from Alliance, Chadron, Crawford, Gordon Rushville, Hay Springs, Hemingford, Harrison, and Hyannis school districts were invited to travel to the Chadron area by school bus to participant in employer tours in career pathways that they may be interested in pursuing in the future.

This is put on by Career Connections of Western Nebraska. Chadron Community Hospital, and Prairie Pines Lodge, were a few of their stops.

The students were able to tour Chadron Community Hospital and learn about all the different job opportunities within our facility thanks to Kristle Sprock, RN, BSN, CLC and RN Educator. They also had a presentation on sports medicine and athletic training, and listened to the AirLink team talk about flight medicine at the helipad with the helicopter present.

At Prairie Pines Lodge, Tim Frye talked to the students about the different areas of care within the facility, working with the residents of Prairie Pines Lodge, and interview tactics and ideas. They also did an interactive activity with skittles to show what an elderly person might be feeling or going through and how to show compassion.

Thank you for including us on your tour Career Connections of Nebraska! We loved having the opportunity to make a positive impression on these students. Hopefully they will have the desire to return to the rural setting one day and join our team.

Career Connections of Western Nebraska is a partnership of workforce and economic development, education, and non-profit organizations in our region working to provide opportunities for students to explore local career opportunities and learn about the workforce skills and education required to prepare for these careers.
