From Star Walk
A total solar eclipse will occur on April 8, 2024. The Moon will block the view of the solar disc, but the Sun’s corona (the outermost part of the Sun’s atmosphere) will be visible.

Fun facts:
☄️During the eclipse, the bright comet 12P/Pons-Brooks and the planets Venus and Jupiter will be visible in the sky;

🌞Also, the eclipse falls during the Sun’s maximum activity period, so the corona is expected to be huge;

👨👩👧👦About 652,000,000 people will be able to see at least a partial eclipse, and 43,800,000 of them will be within the totality path (and that doesn’t include tourists!).

WHERE TO SEE:
🌎 Totality is visible in over 15 states of the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.
🌎 A partial eclipse is visible over the regions located close enough to the totality path (most of North America, the northern part of South America, and a small part of Europe).

WHEN TO SEE: Greenwich Mean Time (subtract 6 hours for Mountain Time)
🕞Partial phase begins at 15:42 GMT;
🕟Totality begins at 16:38 GMT;
🕡Maximum eclipse is at 18:17 GMT;
🕗Totality ends at 19:55 GMT;
🕘Partial phase ends at 20:52 GMT.
The beginning and end times are given for the first and last locations to experience the eclipse.

From Zachary Hall
The big day is here, the total solar eclipse will start in just a few hours.
If you aren’t in the red shaded area below (totality) please understand this eclipse will be just like many others.
The deep partial eclipse will not feature the daylight to darkness effect.
Make the short drive to the totality path, it is worth it.
I’ll have a county map below for you to reference your location and the totality path.
Traffic congestion will likely be the worst right after the eclipse in areas with the longest totality timing.
Enjoy this one, because we won’t see this here again until 2045.
I’m headed to Booneville in a little while!

Please make sure you have those special eclipse looking glasses. Your 3D glasses, your Ray Bans, your fake Ray Bans, or your gas station Panama Jack glasses won’t protect your eyes.
Oh, and don’t dial 911 because it’s getting dark. It’s going to get dark.
