Pryce Guilty on Lesser Charge

(MITCHELL, Neb.) — As we continue to expand our court coverage, we bring you an inside look from a recent case in the Scotts Bluff County Court.

At 8:35 a.m., Judge Miller enters her court room. We all rise, she lets us sit. She explains that today, the 5th day of September in the year 2025 of our Lord and Savior, she will be handing out a sentence for Mr. Damar Khadeem Pryce. He’s sentenced to one year probation for 3rd degree assault.

All seems fairly well, the Judge notes that “This case is unfortunate … And not a reflection of { Mr. Pryce}.” She continues “He’s not becoming, but continuing to be a member of the community.” Throughout the mornings hearing, Mr. Pryce’s drinking problem is mentioned and said to be a contributing factor to that night’s decisions.

But what are the facts?

On February 6, 2025, Deputy Sheldon with the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the residence of Mr. Pryce on Partridge Road in Mitchell at midnight.

Of the multiple calls, one states that there was some type of physical disturbance due to the fact that (a female) and Mr. Pryce had blood on them.

Upon arrival, the victim advised that she and her spouse were drinking at Redz Bar and Grill. During the drive home they started arguing. At one point she stepped out of the vehicle and continued home via foot. Upon arriving at the home, the argument continued and evolved into something physical. That’s when she locked herself in the master bedroom. Mr. Pryce proceeded to break down the door. Because she was scared, she moved to the bathroom. Deputy Sheldon stated that he observed blood on both the master bedroom and master bathroom doors.

After further dialogue, he also observed the victim had a bruised nose, swollen right eye and marks on her neck. When asked if Mr. Pryce had grabbed her neck, she started crying and stated yes. She added that it was hard for her to breathe with his hands around her neck which lasted 1+ minutes.

After Mr. Pryce was transported to Regional West Medical Center for his injuries to his hands and arm, Deputy Sheldon entered the residence to the master bedroom. That’s when the victim revealed once she locked herself in the bathroom, she could hear the sound of Damar loading the weapon inside their bedroom.

The firearm was located in Mr. Pryce’s vehicle and it was noted that the grip was bloody, consistent with being held by Mr. Pryce. The deputy then went to the hospital to read Pryce his Miranda rights before questioning. There he confessed to laying hands and strangling the victim. He also admitted to breaking both doors, but denied any involvement with the weapon.

Originally Mr. Damar Khadeem Pryce was charged with:

  • Domestic assault
  • Strangulation
  • Terroristic threats
  • Use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony
  • Disturbing the peace

The ex-marine, who was honorably discharged, had all but one charge dismissed and the remaining charge was reduced to assault. Judge Miller did note that if he continued to be as cooperative as {the courts expect}, he could finish out probation early.

It is noteworthy to say, he did attend rehab for 76 days and has been in contact with the Veteran’s Administration. He’s also started counseling for himself and his marriage. His progress to amend his actions were even noticed by professionals stating that he is in an active state of change.

He was supported in court by his wife.
