Birds Of A Feather …

(GERING, Neb.) — 2025 has not been a kind year for this household. Two were in court in September and a third will be in court in October.

The first juvenile of the household was seen in Judge Mickey’s room on September 19, 2025. After many positive comments from CASA about the mom and her efforts during their DHHS case, the judge reminded everyone in attendance that the reason they were there was because of the juvenile. Although the DHHS case was going to be closed, he stated his disappointment in the progress the juvenile had during the case. He apologized and thanked all the workers who tried to help him. Judge Mickey said he would close the case, but not because he’s completed his requirements but because the bigger issue was the “Broken dysfunctional home setting that’s caused incredible problems with juveniles”. The juvenile will continue to be on probation until further notice.

On the following Monday, September 22, 2025, the oldest juvenile of the family was seen in Judge Worden courtroom. Probation notes that the parent was actively seeking to transfer him to Morrill School District. Probation also put into record that they had concerns over his marijuana usage and his group of friends. Judge Worden was stern when addressing the juvenile, mentioning that inpatient treatment would be a consequence if he wasn’t able to stop his usage and that as part of his probation he had to log at least 5 hours of online school as well as find a job before October 20. Originally the juvenile was charged with disorderly conduct when officers were dispatched to a physical altercation between him and another juvenile who was going to “put in check” one of his homies. The judge stated that he will continue to be on probation until his 18th birthday.

Both boys have tested positive for marijuana, in both cases they are cooperating with probation to identify who they are getting the marijuana from. Schooling seems to be a major concern for the courts.

Lastly on October 25, 2025 their older sister, 22-year-old Lexie Diamond Rzonca, will be attending court for her involvement as the driver who crashed while intoxicated, causing a juvenile to be ejected from the front windshield.

We at the Panhandle Scanner recognize the need for mental health support in town. That’s why we’re proud to be working on a magazine that will contain an abundance of resources from dieticians, personal trainers, churches and volunteers as well as mental health professionals from across the panhandle. With the right amount of support from the community we can deter our youth from a path of becoming habitual offenders and help stop the revolving door effect at the detention center.

Keep following for updates on our mission to provide a resource tool we all can use to keep our community strong mentally, physically and spiritually.
