Community Support for the Jackson Family

(GERING, Neb.) – When tragedy strikes close to home, we get to see the best in people. Due to a horrible car accident Saturday, the Jackson family lost their teen son, JT, a recent graduate of Gering High School.

The community has surrounded the family in many ways. A meal train has been set up through the end of the month to support Heather and James and the extended family that will be coming in for the funeral. The community also raised over $4,700 towards arrangements on this same resource.

Greg & Stacey Schanaman of Dairy King, posted another fundraiser at the first Food Truck Festival at the Western Nebraska Pioneers ballpark.

Hey everyone, this Saturday night we will be set up at the Western Nebraska Pioneers field for their fun night. As you all know, we lost a very special young man today in a horrific car accident (he was a very good friend of my son, and they had just graduated in May). Greg and I have decided to donate half of our sales and 100% of our tips to the Jackson family we make at this event. So if you have nothing else planned this weekend, stop by and see us. And if any other Panhandle Food Truck Festival would like to participate, let me know and I can get all donations to the family. Thank you! Keep the Jackson family in your prayers.

This sounds like both a fun time and a worthy cause. If you are looking for a way to show your love and support, show up Saturday!

Our prayers are lifted up for the Jackson family, friends and community that was impacted by JT. May your hearts be comforted, your souls find peace, and your memories be positive.
